There are costly certification fees for gaining recognition as an environmentally and socially responsible business, like B Corp and other related certifications.
This is why usually the high revenue earning businesses are getting the certifications.
The fees are too costly for new and small businesses, so they don't apply for the certifications.
What you can do:
Talk to businesses of all sizes: ask them about their business values and the environmental and social concerns that matter to you.
Businesses that truly care will be transparent, and businesses that dodge your questions are silently telling you they don't care.
+ ask your local businesses if they have rental services
